Which Tool Offers The Best Productivity Features?
1) Interface
Motion offers a simple and easy-to-use interface, making it perfect for anyone looking for an easy way to get their work done.
Unlike Sunsama, they do not offer everything on a single page. Instead, they have different tabs for different purposes.
Motion, for example, has a minimalist homepage where you will be able to look at all the events that you attend or schedule.

To find a calendar, tasks, or scheduler in Motion, you can do so by clicking on any of them in the top left menu bar.

Sunsama also has a simple interface, but it offers more features than Motion on a single page.
While it may look daunting at first, Sunsama is very user-friendly, mostly because of all the features it offers and the way it has arranged multiple functionalities on a single page.
The left side of the homepage has the calendar, with tasks in between and all the third-party integrations at the right, as shown in the screenshot below.
2) Task Management
Motion and Sunsama both offer powerful task management features.
With Motion, you can manage your tasks with subtasks, set task deadlines, add notes to your tasks, and track your progress.
Motion also has built-in artificial intelligence technology that optimizes your day’s tasks for you.
To create tasks in Motion, click on My Tasks and a page like this will open up:

You will see an Add task button at the top right corner.
Upon clicking, you will see a task creation popup where you can add all the details related to the task including your task name, project name, notes, deadline priority, recurring tasks, and much more.

Then click on the schedule button on press Ctrl + Enter to do the same.
Once created, you will be able to see all your tasks on the tasks page. You can filter tasks by Scheduled tasks, Projects, Recurring and Completed tasks.
One of the best tasks features of Motion is their priority feature. They do a great job in differentiating deadlines based on your task’s priority.
There are four types of deadlines you can create with their priority:
- ASAP
- Hard deadline
- Soft deadline
- No deadline
At Sunsama, adding tasks has never been easier. On their home page, you can set tasks for the whole week on the go.
For the day you want to create tasks, you will see a plus icon below that day. Click on that button.

Unlike Motion, Sunsama has fewer task features, but it is more user-friendly and minimalist.
Here, you can add the task name, enter a start date, due date, write notes, add comments, etc.

The best part?
Sunsama’s task management feature has a built-in Pomodoro timer that can help you focus on your current task without distractions.

Once you have set up the actual and planned time for your timer, you can click on the play button to start the timer and even take breaks in between.

3) Calendar
Both Motion and Sunsama have powerful calendar features.
Motion’s calendar is very clean and easy to use.
You can quickly see all the events for a specific day by clicking on that date, or see an overview of your week by clicking on the week’s name at the top right.

To add tasks to your calendar, you will see an add task button at the left.

When you first sign up with Motion, you will be asked to connect to Google Calendar so that you can sync your calendar efficiently.
You can also toggle on/off the completed tasks with a click of a button.

Sunsama has also extensively focused on creating a responsive and friendly calendar by adding various functionalities and integrations.
Just like Motion, you can connect Google Calendar with Sunsama effortlessly. All you need to do is click on the arrow located at the top right.

Then, click on the Gmail icon and connect to the account that is associated with your Google calendar.
That’s it. You will be able to see the tasks and even drag and drop new tasks from your Sunsama calendar itself.
4) Scheduling
Fortunately, both the apps do a great job in creating various schedules to keep you up to date and relevant.
Motion has a separate scheduler page where you can create visible calendar templates to let your co-workers/team members know when you will be available and when not.

Their scheduler not only helps determine your availability but also helps book meetings within clicks and even improve your focus.
While creating a template, you can also generate a custom meeting link to be shared with your team members for easy access.

Besides that, it comes with a lot of other options such as schedule time, attendance requirements, multiple durations, location (Zoom, Google Meet, etc), and much more.

Sunsama, on the other hand, does not have specific schedule functionality like Motion.
But its drag-and-drop features make it easy to quickly create a task and schedule it wherever you want.
Besides, their powerful integrations with third-party tools make it easy to create/schedule task and event automation, even outside the app.
5) Integrations
When it comes to integrations, Sunsama takes the lead with its powerful integrations with third-party tools.
With Motion, you can easily connect to your Google Calendar and get started.

But that’s about it.
With Sunsama, you get the ability to connect to tools such as Gmail, Trello, ClickUp, Asana, Jira, GitHub, Todoist, Outlook, etc.
Overall, Motion is a great task manager and calendar productivity app. But if you are looking for more features and integrations, Sunsama is the better option.
6) Setting Options
The account setting options for Sunsama and Motion are quite solid, one worth giving a look at.
In Motion, settings are divided into three parts:
- General
- Scheduler
- Task Manager
General settings have basic account details, calendar syncing options, conference (virtual meeting) settings, timezones and schedules.

The Scheduler has meeting scheduling, default settings where you can add the time of the meeting, URL and the default message.

Lastly, the Task Manager feature offers typical task options. In task manager, one of the most important features is enabling focus time at your convenience.

Sunsama also comes with a lot of useful setting options.
The best of all is the integrations tab, which has all the integrations that Sunsama currently supports.
Under each integration, there are specific settings that you can change according to your needs.
For example, if you want to enable/disable email notifications for a certain integration, you can do that here.
Besides integration, there are notifications settings, data export options, timeboxing features, rituals, etc.

This was all about the features of Motion as well as Sunsama. Upon exploring the tools individually, you will come to know that they are not limited to these features.
Sunsama, for example, has analytics features where you can see your daily and weekly performance in a visual chart form.

Besides that, both of them have mobile apps. Motion also offers a Chrome extension, while Sunsama offers a desktop app, too.
Lastly, Sunsama can also help you gain control over your life with their planning and journaling feature, which I feel is highly underrated.

Thus, it is clear that there is a lot that can only be uncovered upon personal experience.
