Want to sell your course but get confused between Teachable and Graphy?
In this article, I have compared both platforms to make the decision process easy for you.
But before that one thing, you should know.
Every platform lacks some features. The famous quote, “No one is perfect” applies to everything and not just humans.
Teachable might be good at one thing, but Graphy is not. Similarly, Graphy might excel in some other feature while Teachable fails in it.
It is your needs and priority of features which will let you choose the platform that suits you the best.
So, without wasting any time further, let’s start.
The following are the parameters for comparison:
1. Overview
Teachable
Teachable is an LMS (Learning Management System). You can create online courses for free on Teachable. To unlock more features, upgrade to the paid version.
It gets used by entrepreneurs to create and sell courses on various subjects like art, music, language, healthcare, graphics, etc.
Graphy
Graphy is also an LMS platform and a competitor to Teachable. It is for a business coach, teacher, consultant, influencer, and creator.
Unlike Teachable, Graphy gives you a 14-day free trial to explore the platform. After that, you need to pay to continue using it.
In Graphy also, you can create any type of course, like art, music, graphics, marketing, etc.
2. Course
Teachable
Teachable offers two products: Courses and Coaching.
In the course, you can upload pre-recorded lectures while in the coaching, you can conduct live classes. Here, you interact more with your students and get to know them better.
The following resources can be added to the lectures:
- Videos
- Images
- Audios
- Documents
- Text
- Quiz
- Code examples
- Custom codes like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
You can create unlimited courses with unlimited students getting enrolled in either self-paced, cohort-based, or live classes.
If you already have the videos created, you can bulk import them to the Teachable platform.
Graphy
Graphy also allows you to create both recorded lectures and live classes.
They provide the options in resources to add to your lecture classes:
- Videos
- Images
- Audios
- Documents
- Text
- Quiz
- Live test
- Assignments
- Form
Graphy does not have the option of code or custom code examples like Teachable.
But two things that Teachable does not offer and Graphy does are live tests and forms. In a live test, students need to attempt that test within a time window.
The form is where you can take feedback from students while they are taking up the course.
You can also import the lectures to their platform.
3. Course Pricing
Teachable
You get four-course pricing plans to set for your course and coaching.
- Free
- One-time purchase
- Payment plan – Buy the course divided into different payment plans. Like unlocking lectures or unlocking the study materials based on which plan you select.
- Subscription – Buy the monthly, or yearly subscriptions. As long as students pay, they get content access continuously.
Teachable also offers a Bundle pricing option. You can create a package of courses and coaching and sell it at a single price.
You can either set one pricing or country-specific pricing plans.
Graphy
Graphy provides you with four-course pricing plan options:
- Free (includes an option to limit course access duration)
- One-time payment (includes an option to limit course access duration)
- Recurring subscription
- Membership – This is a new feature launched. You can offer a yearly or monthly subscription.
In Graphy also, you can either set global or country-specific pricing plans.
Planning the course price country-wise gives you an edge to not miss out on the profit or undervalue the course because of the currency value difference.
Teachable comparatively is better in this feature because they offer more price-setting features. So, you can offer more pricing strategy options to your students that will attract them to buy.
4. Platform Pricing
Teachable
Teachable has four pricing plans for course creators or tutors.
Plans | Price (Monthly) | Price (Annual)(per month) |
Free | $0 | $0 |
Basic | $39 | $29 |
Professional | $119 | $99 |
Business | $299 | $249 |
*Professional plan is the most popular in both monthly and annual plans as per Teachable.
As you upgrade to higher plans, you unlock more features.
Graphy
Graphy offers four pricing plans:
Plans | Price (Monthly) | Price (Annual)(per month) |
Basic | $59 | $54 |
Pro | $119 | $109 |
Business | $199 | $182 |
Advanced | $349 | $320 |
Compared to Teachable, Graphy is expensive.
Also, you cannot continue using the free version of Graphy. It is only for 14 days.
Whereas, if you do not have the amount to invest, you can keep on using the free version of Teachable to generate the initial income.
5. App
Teachable
Teachable has its app supported only on iOS. It is not available for Android users.
Also, the Teachable app is completely free. Once you download from the Apple App Store and log in, you will get access to all the courses you bought.
You can watch the Teachable courses offline by downloading the lectures, provided the mentor has kept the download option.
Graphy
Unlike Teachable, the Graphy app is supported on both Android and iOS.
Now, here’s the exciting part.
You can develop a no-code app using Graphy, which Teachable does not provide.
In Teachable, your students can access your course through the Teachable app only.
But in Graphy, you create a separate app named with your brand and launch it on the Google App Store or Apple App Store. You do not need a developer to develop an app.
6. Reports
Teachable
You get two options to check progress in Teachable:
- Course reporting – It is available in the professional and business plans only. You can check data like lecture completion, video stats, quiz scores, and leaderboard.
- Student progress reports – It helps analyze the individual students. You get the details on how many lectures were completed, which quizzes they took, and video heatmaps.
These reports help understand content engagement levels. Based on that, you can modify your course content to increase engagement.
Graphy
In Graphy, you get the reports for the following:
- Overview – All the details related to the course, enrollment, sales, revenue, etc.
- Sales – Like total sales, transactions, revenue, etc.
- Bandwidth and usage – Like device usage, total bandwidth use, total time spent, etc.
- School activity – Like daily classes, tests, live classes and test, downloads, etc.
One report where Teachable gets an edge over Graphy is the ‘Student Progress’ report.
Graphy does not provide this reporting.
7. Commission
Teachable
There is no limit to earning in Teachable. You can create unlimited courses and get unlimited enrollments.
Unlimited Courses + Unlimited Enrollments = Unlimited Earnings
Teachable charges some amount as a commission on a per-sale basis. Here is how they charge commission for different plans.
Plans | Commission (per sale) |
Free | $1 + 10% |
Basic | 5% |
Pro | 0% |
Business | 0% |
Graphy
Following are the commissions that Graphy charges on a per-sale basis:
Plans | For Whom | Commission (per sale) |
Launch | Creators | 10% |
Rise | Businesses | 5% |
Scale | Brands | 3% |
If I compare both the LMS platform, Teachable wins the battle.
Graphy charges a commission on every plan. But, Teachable does not charge a commission on the Pro and Business plans. For the initial two plans, both the platforms charge the same percentage.
8. Integration
Teachable
Teachable integrates with many third-party platforms. It helps manage your content, audience, marketing, tracking, and communication.
Some platforms can directly get integrated with Teachable. For others, you can connect with Zapier and transfer data to this LMS platform.
You can also use an API token to connect to other platforms with Teachable. But this option is only available in the Pro and Business plans.
Check out the third-party integration list.
Graphy
Graphy also provides many platform integrations that make your business management easy.
You get the Zapier integration for those platforms that cannot get integrated with Graphy. Also, the API option is there to connect to other left-out platforms.
More or less, both brands give the same integration options.
But Graphy API features can get accessed in any plan, unlike Teachable, where you get the API options only on the Pro and Business plans.
9. Payment and Tax
Teachable
You receive Teachable payment in two ways:
- Directly to the bank via Stripe Express
- PayPal
Every payment gateway has its benefits and payment options. Below are the details of how you will get paid and how your tax will get managed.
Payment Gateway | Payout schedule | Payment method | Automatic author/affiliate payouts | Automatic handling & remittance of tax | Student Payout options |
Teachable payments | Daily, weekly, and monthly | Directly to bank account via Stripe Express | Yes, with Backoffice service. | Yes | – Credit/debit cards – PayPal for USD purchases – Google/Apple Pay |
Monthly payment gateway | Monthly | PayPal | Yes, with Backoffice service. | Yes | – Credit/debit cards – PayPal for USD purchases – Google/Apple Pay |
Custom payment gateway | Varies | Varies | No | No | – Credit/debit cards – PayPal for USD non-recurring purchases |
Graphy
Graphy offers three payment gateways if you are setting up your business in India:
- Graphy payment gateway
- Stripe
- Razorpay
For other countries, only, Stripe and RazorPay are the options.
Also, these three tax options are available for every country:
- No tax
- GST
- VAT,
However, these taxes are applicable only in India. Other countries have separate tax policies.
Country | Payment Gateways | Payout Schedules | Taxes charged | Tax managing service |
India | Graphy, Stripe, and Razorpay | No | GST, and VAT | No |
Other | Stripe, and Razorpay | No | GST, and VAT | No |
If you are an Indian creator, then all your revenue will get collected by Graphy until you complete your KYC. It should get done within 15 days of payment option initiation on your page.
Then, Graphy will send your amount to your bank within 3 business days, provided you should have a minimum revenue of Rs 1,000.
Teachable has a strong payment policy and service. They are offering more than Graphy.
There is no schedule of payments and no tax gets handled by Graphy.
Hence, the payment section of Graphy is simple.
10. Support Service
Teachable
The Teachable team helps you to solve certain technical and platform-related issues.
If you face any problem with payment, enrollment, landing page, course creation, email marketing, etc., contact their support team.
They also have a knowledge base, live webinars, podcasts, downloads, events, community, and support articles to grow your business.
Graphy
Graphy also provides almost the same support services that Teachable offers. Be it related to website or app issues, marketing, and sales, email support, 24/7 live chat support, etc.
Apart from these, they have some online resources like blogs, a knowledge base, and a product roadmap.
Conclusion
So, these were the main parameters on which you can decide which platform to select to start your business.
Overall, Teachable is a far better suited course platform for beginners. It’s free to get started, affordable as you scale, and comes with a robust set of features.
