Email marketing sucks.
You spend hours crafting the perfect message, only to land it in someone’s spam folder or get deleted without a second glance.

Omnisend Overview

Omnisend is an all-in-one marketing automation platform for e-commerce businesses.
Most marketing platforms try to be everything to everyone. They end up being mediocre at a lot of things, rather than excellent at what matters for online stores.
Omnisend takes a different approach.
They’ve built their entire system around the unique needs of e-commerce.
This means deep integration with your store’s data, allowing for hyper-personalized messaging based on customer behavior.
Let’s break down what this actually means:
- Smart segmentation: Omnisend lets you target customers based on their purchase history, browsing behavior, and engagement level. You’re not just sending emails; you’re sending the right messages to the right people.
- Omnichannel automation: Email, SMS, and web push notifications—all in one place.
- Dynamic email content: product recommendations that update in real-time. Countdown timers that create urgency. Discount codes are unique to each recipient.
- Advanced signup forms: popups, landing pages, and even gamified options like a Wheel of Fortune.
- Robust reporting. Not just opens and clicks, but actual revenue attribution. You’ll know exactly how much money each campaign is making.
Omnisend has managed to pack all this power into an interface that’s surprisingly intuitive.
Klaviyo Overview

Klaviyo is an e-commerce marketing platform that automates personalized customer communications across email, SMS, and push notifications.
Most marketing tools just blast messages. Klaviyo doesn’t. It uses your data to figure out what each customer wants, then sends them messages they’ll actually care about.
Here’s what sets Klaviyo apart:
Data integration is its superpower. It pulls in info from your whole tech stack—your website, payment processor, support tickets, everything. This gives you a complete picture of each customer.
The segmentation is next-level. You can slice and dice your audience any way you want.
Bought in the last 30 days?
Viewed a product but didn’t buy it?
Lives in Bangalore?
Klaviyo can target all these and more.
Automation is where things get interesting. You set up flows—sequences of messages triggered by customer actions. Welcome series, abandoned cart reminders, and post-purchase follow-ups.
Once they’re set up, they run on their own.
But Klaviyo’s not just set-and-forget. Its AI predicts when customers might buy again or their potential lifetime value.
Templates speed things up. They’re not just generic layouts—Klaviyo offers designs for specific scenarios like deal announcements or seasonal promotions.
The reporting goes deep.
You get clear visualizations of what’s working and what’s not. But it’s not just numbers; Klaviyo benchmarks your performance against similar businesses, showing where you can improve.
With the overviews out of the way, let’s get into a features comparison:
Ease of Use & Email Editor
It all starts with how easy it is to use software. You don’t want something powerful, but complex as hell.
Let’s compare the ease of use of Omnisend and Klaviyo.
Omnisend
Once you sign up for the free trial and complete the onboarding process, you land on the dashboard page that looks like this:

It is super clean and whitespace-heavy, making everything easily accessible.
The first thing Omnisend tells you to do is to connect your account with your e-commerce store.
Omnisend supports all major e-commerce platforms, including, but not limited to:
- Shopify
- Wix
- WooCommerce
- WordPress
- Etc.

Omnisend dashboard has the following tabs under its dashboard:
- Goals: to connect your e-commerce store and perform desired actions.
- Overview: whitespace-heavy statistical data on sales performance and audience growth.
- Live View: real-time view of your contact’s actions.
Moving on, let’s have a look at their email editor.
In Omnisend’s Campaigns section, click ‘View all campaign types‘.

As of writing this, Omnisend allows you to create the following campaigns: Email, Email A/B test, SMS, and Push notification.

Let’s click on email.
Email settings appear. This is where you input details, like the email subject line. On the right is the preview of your email.

For the sake of the example and to show you the email editor, I will fill in the details and choose the email template.
And boom! Omnisend has countless email templates to help you get started effortlessly.

You can filter them based on your goals, theme, and type.
Choose a template and click ‘use template’. You will land on the email editor page.

This is where the dreams come true.
Omnisend provides a super easy drag-and-drop email editor with countless widgets to make the whole journey soothing.
You have everything you need on the left sidebar. Text, button, image, video, you name it.

And when you click on any specific element, you can edit its properties on the right sidebar.

It would have been even better if the left and right (or at least one) sidebars would have been collapsible.
Klaviyo
Klaviyo’s onboarding process takes almost similar time to set you up. Once you complete the sign-up and onboarding process, you will land on this dashboard:

It is slightly different from Omnisend. Klaviyo has a cleaner UI, and it is whitespace-heavy like Notion.
Their left sidebar is not collapsible. The home screen previews the summary of your campaign performance.
Let’s head over to ‘campaigns’ and click ‘Create campaign’.

Select ’email’ and continue.

Select your subscribers’ list and click next. You will be asked to create an email message. Add the subject line and preview text, among other basic details.

SIDENOTE: Unlike Omnisend, Klaviyo does not offer the live email preview feature side-by-side.
Click ‘View template library’. Klaviyo also comes with a good deal of templates to get you going.

I found Klaviyo’s email editor to be even cleaner and easier to use than Omnisend. Practically zero learning curve.

Drag anything you need from the left sidebar to the main email editor in the middle.
There is no right sidebar.
Even the element editing options appear on the left when you click on something.

In a nutshell, if you prioritize a clean interface and minimal email editor more than anything, Klaviyo has an edge here.
That brings us to our next feature comparison: Automation.
Email Automation Features
Automation, as the name shouts, makes things automatic. They help you sleep easy, ensuring that the emails will be continually sent to the right audience whenever a trigger point is activated.
Basically, it’s mostly one-time work with long-term fruition.
Let’s see how well (or poorly) Omnisend and Klaviyo do when automating your emails.
Omnisend
Omnisend has a dedicated section for automation.
Click ‘Browse pre-built workflows’ and you will be forwarded to a page with automation workflow templates that you can start using right away.

Welcome series, product abandonment, cart recovery—they’re all ready to go. You can launch these in minutes, not days.

And if you want to tinker?
Their drag-and-drop automation editor has got you covered.
Or you can create one from scratch.
The numbers speak for themselves. A whopping 30% of Omnisend sales are generated through automation. We’re talking about a $65k lift in revenue per email from these automated flows.

And get this—17% of Omnisend’s yearly revenue comes from just the order confirmation automation. That’s some serious ROI.
But Omnisend doesn’t stop at email. You can drag and drop email, SMS, and web push notifications into a single automation flow.
SIDENOTE: To use automation, Omnisend requires you to connect your e-commerce store.
Klaviyo
Klaviyo handles all the automation capabilities from their ‘Flows’ section.

Klaviyo comes loaded with countless ready-to-go flow templates. These templates cover everything from welcome series to abandoned cart reminders.
Just plug in your branding, tweak it a bit, and you’re good to go.

But Klaviyo doesn’t stop at templates.
Want to create a flow triggered by a customer’s birthday?
Or when they hit VIP status?
You can do it all. The drag-and-drop flow builder puts you in the driver’s seat; no coding required.

Klaviyo’s automation responds to real customer behavior.
Viewed a product?
Started checkout?
Placed an order?
Each action can kick off a personalized flow.
Klaviyo’s webhooks can trigger actions on other platforms as well. Send a physical “Thank You” card after purchase or update loyalty points when a form is filled. The possibilities are endless.
User Segmentation
A great segmentation workflow turns customer data into cold, hard cash.
And the bad one?
The total opposite.
Let’s find out what’s going on in this department:
Omnisend
With Omnisend, every segmentation feature is built with your Shopify, WooCommerce, or whatever e-commerce platform you’re running in mind.

Segmentation that actually makes sense:
- Shopping behavior? Check. Target folks based on what they buy, how much they spend, and when they last hit that “Place Order” button.
- Customer lifecycle? You bet. Omnisend automatically sorts your customers into lifecycle stages, so you can focus on keeping your VIPs happy and turning one-time buyers into loyalists.
- Engagement levels? Absolutely. Keep your email list clean and your deliverability sky-high by targeting based on who’s actually opening and clicking.
The segment builder is where the magic happens.

Whether you’re a segmentation newbie or a targeting pro, you’ll dig into how easy it is to mix and match rules.

Want to target people who bought red shoes last month but haven’t opened an email since?
Omnisend’s got you covered.
And here’s the extra awesome part:
Omnisend plays nice with the big boys. Sync your segments directly to Facebook Custom Audiences and Google Customer Match.
Once you’ve nailed your segments, Omnisend lets you unleash personalized messages across email, SMS, and web push.
It’s super easy to use, and it just works.
Klaviyo
Klaviyo’s segmentation is all about precision.

The secret sauce?
It’s their segment builder.

Omnisend’s segment builder is no slouch either—it’s user-friendly and intuitive. But Klaviyo takes it a step further with its predictive analytics capabilities.
Want to get super-specific?
Klaviyo’s got your back. You can pile on as many rules as you like.
Bought a red shirt in the last 30 days?
Lives in New York?
Opened your last five emails but hasn’t clicked?
Klaviyo can target all that and more.
But here’s where it gets really interesting: predictive analytics.
Klaviyo doesn’t just look at what your customers have done—it takes a stab at what they might do next.
Predicted customer lifetime value? Yep, that’s in there.
This is an area where Klaviyo pulls ahead of Omnisend, which focuses more on current and past behavior.
Now, about those real-time updates. As soon as a customer does something—buys a product, abandons a cart, you name it—your segments adjust automatically.
Both Klaviyo and Omnisend shine in this department, keeping your segments fresh and relevant.
Reporting and Analytics
“Only that which can be measured can be improved”. You’ve probably heard something like this a lot more times than you would want to.
That suggests how significant it is to track something.
What good is an income and expense tracker software that does not show you the daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly balance?
You get the idea.
Here’s a rephrased version of your line:
Let’s explore how Omnisend and Klaviyo stack up in terms of providing insights into your data:
Omnisend

Omnisend’s Sales Dashboard is your new best friend. It doesn’t just show you numbers; it shows you money.
Real-time ROI tracking across all campaigns and automation. You’ll see exactly how much dough Omnisend is bringing in compared to your total revenue.
Performance reports are where things get interesting.
Forget basic open rates. Omnisend breaks down your customer lifecycle into stages, showing you exactly where each shopper stands.
Use this to laser-target your highest-value customers and keep them coming back for more.
Campaign and automation reports go deep. They don’t just tell you what happened; they tell you why it matters.
Revenue and engagement data for every message you send, so you can double down on what works and ditch what doesn’t.
But here’s where Omnisend really makes you say, “Now we are talking.”
Their advanced reporting feature. It’s like mission control for your marketing:

- All your KPIs in one view? Check.
- Top-performing campaigns and segments? Listed out.
- Channel-by-channel breakdown? You got it.
You can compare email, SMS, and push notifications side-by-side. It’s omnichannel marketing made easy.

Plus, you get audience growth trends right on your dashboard.

Klaviyo
Klaviyo also doesn’t hold back in showing its reporting superpowers.
With over 350 integrations, Klaviyo pulls data from every corner of your tech stack. Your website, payment processor, support tickets – you name it, Klaviyo’s got eyes on it.

Customization is king in Klaviyo’s world.

Let me explain:
Klaviyo serves up smart, personalized recommendations on everything from marketing strategies to targeting.
Klaviyo knows you’ll feel much better with real-time monitoring and alerts. No more nasty surprises when you check your stats.
Let’s talk attribution.
Omnisend brags about its cross-channel attribution and custom windows. That’s cute.
Klaviyo lets you change the touchpoints and windows that determine how credit is given for purchases and conversions.
Third-Party Integrations
Who’s got more friends?
Let’s find out now:
Omnisend

Klaviyo
While Omnisend offers 130+ third-party integrations, Klaviyo doesn’t stop even at 350.
Klaviyo offers a whopping 350+ pre-built integrations. That’s not a typo.

We’re talking about plugging into pretty much every tool you’re already using, from your e-commerce platform to your customer support system.
The best part?
These integrations are plug-and-play.
All that information you’re pulling in is immediately available for creating laser-focused customer segments and triggering automated message flows.
It syncs both historical and real-time data, giving you a complete picture of your customer’s journey.
That brings us to the question of moolah.
Pricing Comparison
When it comes to pricing, Klaviyo and Omnisend are both playing the “grow with your business” game, but they’ve got some interesting twists up their sleeves.
Let’s break it down:
Klaviyo’s Pricing Playbook

Klaviyo’s not messing around. They’ve got three main plans: Free, Email, and Email + SMS.
Here’s the scoop:
- Free Plan: You get 500 monthly email sends and 150 free SMS/MMS credits.
- Email Plan: Starting at $20/month, this is where things get serious. You’re looking at 251-500 active profiles and 5,000 monthly email sends. Plus, they throw in mobile push notifications and those 150 SMS/MMS credits.
- Email + SMS Plan: Starts at $35/month. Same deal as the Email plan, but with more SMS juice. You get to play with 1,501-2,500 monthly SMS/MMS credits.
Omnisend’s Pricing Strategy

Omnisend’s coming in hot with a three-tier system too, but they’re mixing things up a bit:
- Free Plan: You get 250 contacts, 500 emails/month, and 500 web push notifications. Oh, and they’ll toss in $1 in free SMS credits.
- Standard Plan: At $16/month, this is their crowd-pleaser. You’re looking at 500 contacts and 6,000 emails/month. They’re also throwing in unlimited web push notifications and 1,000 published reviews if you’re on Shopify.
- Pro Plan: For $59/month, you’re in the big leagues. 2,500 contacts and unlimited emails. But here’s the kicker – they’re giving you $59 in free SMS credits each month.
The Brutal Truth: Which One Should You Actually Use?
Here’s the annoying truth: It depends.
Yeah, I know. It’s not the clear-cut answer you were hoping for. But anyone who tells you there’s a one-size-fits-all solution is either lying or trying to sell you something.
Probably both.
So let’s break this down:
Choose Omnisend if:
- You’re just starting out and want something that won’t make you want to throw your computer out the window.
- You’re all about that e-commerce life and want a platform that speaks your language.
- You like your automation with a side of “set it and forget it”.
Go with Klaviyo if:
- You’re a data nerd who gets off on hyper-specific customer segments.
- You want to feel like a fortune teller with those fancy predictive analytics.
- You’re running a larger operation and need all the bells and whistles.
At the end of the day, both Omnisend and Klaviyo are solid choices.
So pick one. Start sending emails. Make some money.
