Getting Started with Munch
Many tools describe themselves as ‘very easy to use,’ but once you start using them, you realize you were misled.
However, Munch truly lives up to its claim of being beginner-friendly, with a very small learning curve involved.
To get started with the initial setup, simply head over to their website and click on the ‘Get Started Now’ button.
Next, you will be asked to sign up. Once you have done so, you will be redirected to the app dashboard.

On the left menu bar, you’ll see your projects, integrations, and the plan you’re currently using.

Since you haven’t subscribed to their paid plan yet, you’ll need to do that first before you can fully start using Munch.

However, you can still play with the sample video(s) to get a better idea of how Munch works.

Getting started with Munch is straightforward and user-friendly. Follow these simple steps, and you’ll be up and running in no time.
With that out of the way, let’s uncover the key features of Munch and how you can benefit from them.
Munch Features
Intuitive Video Editor
Munch’s video editor is not only easy to use but also smart. It learns from whatever you feed it.
To create a new project, click on the big ‘+’ icon on your dashboard or the ‘Create new’ button located in the top right corner.

This will take you to a new page where you can select the type of short video you want to create from the video you upload.
At the moment, Munch offers options for creating videos for:
- TikTok
- YouTube shorts
- And LinkedIn.
You can select a maximum of two channels at a time.

And play with the aspect ratio to achieve your desired effect:

Next, you will be prompted to provide a source for your long video. For example, if you choose YouTube, you will be asked for a link to a public video or given the option to upload the video file directly.

After selecting your video source, you can pick from different subtitle styles in the Stylize option.

Before entering the editor, you must give your project a name, describe your video source (such as a vlog), and set an optimal clip length or let Munch decide for you (the final length may vary).
Furthermore, after analyzing your video, Munch will automatically create captions and hashtags optimized specifically for the social media channel(s) you’ve selected.

After filling in all the necessary details, click on the ‘Munch it’ button and let Munch do its job.
You’ll be able to see exactly how much time it will take to complete the completely automated process, which includes:
- Analysis
- Clipping content
- Adjusting aspect ratio
- And finalizing.

Once Munch’s process is complete, you’ll see all the clips it has created for you.
Each clip will have a different video length, and some of them will be labeled with tags like ‘Trending’ and ‘High Search’.

These tags indicate that the content in those videos is something that many people are searching for or has a higher likelihood of going viral.
If you find a specific clip that you like and want to further edit, simply click on the edit button. This will open up the full video editor page, which allows you to control every aspect of the clip.

At the top of the page, you can edit the title of the video (the default one is created by Munch’s GPT capabilities).

Toggle on the subtitle button to edit the subtitles. You can edit every second of the video.

The ‘Styles’ let you edit everything from the font and font size of your subtitles to your text color, and even save a specific style as a template you can use in the future.

The ‘Templates’ feature, as mentioned earlier, provides pre-made subtitle designs created by the Munch team. Currently, there are seven different subtitle templates available.
Enabling ‘Auto Highlights’ is an excellent feature when you want to emphasize specific words in the subtitle.

As I chose YouTube and Instagram earlier, it will show me all the best aspect ratios that I can set for the video.

‘Magic Posts’ is another helpful feature where Munch creates an SEO-optimized title and description with hashtags for your video.

From the middle bottom of the screen, you can control the video’s volume and length by expanding or trimming it.

That covers the advanced, intuitive, and beginner-friendly video editor. Now let’s explore Munch’s filtering options and how to use them effectively.
Advanced Filtering Options
When creating a project in Munch, as discussed earlier, you’ll notice a separate section for filters automatically generated on the left side of the screen.

It allows you to filter based on:
- Duration
- Suitable platforms
- Brands
- People
- Keywords
- And Topics
Based on the context and topic, Munch categorizes videos into various groups.
For example, when I aimed to convert my initial video into YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels, it displayed “YouTube Short” & “Instagram” in the “Suitable Platforms” section.

Additionally, under the ‘Brands’ filter, you’ll find a list of all the brands mentioned in the video.

Similarly, under ‘People,’ you can explore the various types of target audiences that the video addresses.

The same goes for ‘keywords’ and ‘topics’.
Real-Time Keywords Analytics
Munch is able to intelligently identify important keywords from the video you provide by analyzing their search volume and competition.

You can also choose to view the performance of these keywords based on the following time periods:
- The past month
- The past 3 months
- The past 6 months

Furthermore, it provides you with a visually appealing graph showcasing the top trending keywords and their performance over the past 30 days.

Moreover, in addition to the top trending keywords, you also receive data on the top trending brands associated with your video, along with the performance of each brand query.

Fortunately, it not only provides data on all top performers, but also includes trending keywords in a top-down format.

This can be helpful because it can guide you toward targeting the correct keywords for your video(s).
Social Media Integrations
As of the time of writing, Munch supports YouTube and TikTok, which means that you can easily connect your accounts on these platforms to Munch to automate some or all of the processes.

With YouTube, you can import videos to Munch, saving you time and enabling data-driven decisions.
With TikTok, you can automate the distribution process by uploading videos directly from Munch.
Additionally, in the near future, Munch plans to integrate:
- YouTube Shorts
- And Facebook
With that said, let’s move on to discussing the user experience of Munch.
