Switcher Studio Features And Use Cases
1. User Interface
Contrary to what I thought before, Switcher Studio is easy to use despite providing many features.
This is what Switcher Studio’s homepage looks like right after you log in to your dashboard:

The left menu bar is where you can navigate between different pages of Switcher Studio.

While the rest of the screen displays the content depending on which page you open.

One user experience-related thing that I observed while using Switcher Studio is the loading speed.
Despite using it on a high processing power device and high-speed 4G network, it loads slower (haven’t checked on an iOS device).
It would be great to see changes in improving the speed because it’s very important. And it’s very easy for customers like me to lose patience waiting for the dashboard to load or the video to render.
2. Video Library
Video Library in Switcher Studio is where you can import/upload your videos, feed the video with additional data, and assign it to an appropriate Switch player.
To use the Video Library, head over to the page from the left sidebar. This is where you can upload all your pre-recorded videos.

You will see an option to upload a video in the top right corner.
Switcher Studio enables you to upload up to 30 GB worth of video content at once. It allows uploading files of different formats including MP4, MKV, AVI, and many others.

Once you upload your video, you will be asked to fill in additional details like video title, and description, select a player (more on that shortly), enable gated content, and even interactive links.

Switcher Studio enables you to create different players for distinct use cases.
Switch Player allows you to customize and display your videos the way you want.
With that said, let’s look at it in action.
3. Switcher Players
Switcher Player is where you can connect your specific videos and display them however you like.

You can keep a video free for all or make it gated, for example. You can also change the appearance of the video preview page.
Now only that, Switcher Player also creates a unique sharing and embed link.
Here’s how to use Switcher Player:
First, click on New Player. They also give you an example player for your convenience. But, we will start from scratch for your better understanding.

Write the name of the player and the description, and then click on Create.

Once the player is created, click on it to open this page:

This is the secret sauce or the town hall of Switcher Studio. Here, you can completely customize your player.
At the top, you will be able to see the preview of your video, of course, once you assign a video to your player from the Video Library.

On the right sidebar, you can access the video embed link.

And the video-sharing link.

Notice there is an option to toggle Compatibility Mode in the embed link. If you enable it, your video will be responsive and work on various devices.

Beneath the video preview, there are additional features.

First, we have a playlist.
As the name suggests, Playlist allows you to order and play videos in a certain sequence.
All you have to do is add videos to your playlist and when you preview the sharing link, you will be able to see them lined up here.

This is a really helpful feature, especially for step-by-step video courses or sequential episodes.
Next, we have gated content.
It helps you to earn money from your videos. If you enable gated content, your viewers will only be able to view the content after making a specified payment.
To enable gated content and start receiving payments, Switcher Studio requires you to connect to a Stripe account.

And you’re good to go!
Next, you can also choose a default display for your player.
Switcher Studio provides three display options to display your upcoming video when it’s not live:
- Playlist (helps you prepare a playlist of recommended videos like YouTube)
- Up Next (Shows a countdown saying the next stream of your selected video will begin)
- Featured Video (You can choose one video to play next)

Additionally, Switcher Studio also provides an option to add interactive links in the player’s popout menu.
All you need to do is name the button with a headline and then a link to that button:

Once you save and preview, you will be able to see your call-to-action button on the right sidebar.

Whenever someone clicks it, an automatically built QR Code and a clickable link beneath it will appear, which upon scanning will lead to your desired URL address.

Finally, there is a feature to change the appearance, specifically the player theme and color palette.
Once you enable a custom color palette, you will see several design options to play around with.

4. Platform Integrations
The platform integration feature is one of the coolest things about Switcher Studio!
It lets you easily stream your multicamera live streams directly to all the popular platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, and more.

So, for example, let’s say you’re using Switcher to livestream an event.
You’ve got multiple camera angles, graphics, lower thirds—the whole production.
With just one tap in the Switcher app, you can simultaneously stream to Facebook Live, YouTube Live, and Twitch simultaneously.
And because the platform integrations are native, the live streams are high quality. The video will look just as good on Facebook as it does on YouTube or any other platform.
No quality loss or choppy footage.
Plus, you can monitor comments and engage with viewers no matter which platform they’re watching from.
Since Switcher streams natively to each platform, it pulls in the live comments, so you can interact with your audience in real-time.
Pricing
Switcher Studio offers a 14-day free trial.

It offers two paid plan options. The Business plan starts at $79 per month (or $71 per month on annual billing). And the Business+ plan starts at $239 per month ($191 per month when billed annually).
